This is the last thing that the San Francisco 49ers and their fans wanted to hear right now.
With the team on a roll and seemingly asserting themselves as the team to beat in the NFC, the last thing they needed was a season-ending injury to starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
Unfortunately, that’s the news the team received after their win over the Miami Dolphins, as Jimmy G is now set to miss the season with a fractured foot.
Garoppolo is the second starting quarterback to go down for the season for the Niners. They team already lost Trey Lance earlier in the year.
Seventh-round rookie Brock Purdy is now set to take over. He was the last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, earning the label as Mr. Irrelevant. He’s not so irrelevant anymore, though, as he led the Niners to a 33-17 victory over the Dolphins.

The 49ers’ Super Bowl hopes are now in Purdy’s hands. It would be quite the story if he can pick up where Garoppolo left off and lead this team on a deep playoff run.
