On Wednesday afternoon, it was reported that Nick Bosa was dealing “just an ankle sprain” and he likely wouldn’t see any preseason action.
On Thursday afternoon, 49ers general manager John Lynch described the 1st-round pick as having a “significant” ankle sprain and confirmed that would indeed miss the entire preseaon.
Bosa was held out of OTAs with a Grade 1 hamstring strain, so he’s had a crazy summer dealing with his ankle that hopefully doesn’t follow him into the NFL season.
The 21-year-old was selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft and agreed to a 4-year, $33M rookie contract that included a $22M signing bonus.
Bosa recorded 77 tackles, 17.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and a defensive TD over the course of 3 seasons at Ohio State.
