Thursday night’s AFC West showdown between the Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders was one of the most lopsided NFL games in history.
It was so bad that Richard Sherman called for Brandon Staley to be fired at halftime.
The Chargers decided to wait a few more hours.
Staley, the defensive guru plucked from the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, was already on the hot seat and it boiled over when the team fired him on Friday. The team also fired GM Tom Telesco, according to Ian Rapoport.
As for his interim replacement, it’s believed that former Cowboys offensive coordinator and current Chargers OC Kellen Moore will assume the role.

The move comes one day after a 63-21 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders dropped the Chargers to 5-9 on the season.
Coming into Thursday, the Chargers ranked 29th in total defense, 27th in yards per rush, 17th in points allowed per game, and 16th in points scored per game.
Justin Herbert is out for the year in a season that is going to lead nowhere. Not to mention what happened 11 months ago when the Chargers blew a 27-point lead in a historic postseason loss to the Jaguars.
Throughout his three-year tenure as head coach, Staley coached 48 games for the Chargers with a record of 24-24.
