At just 40 years of age, Brandon Staley of the Los Angeles Chargers is one of the youngest coaches in the NFL right now.
Staley was 38 years of age when the Chargers introduced him as their new head coach in January 2021. But if were just shown a picture of Staley for the first time, you’d probably think he’s much older than 40.
As several fans have noted on X (formerly Twitter), the third-year head coach looks like he’s aged by multiple decades in just two years with the Chargers:

Compared to other professional sports leagues, it’s especially stressful being an NFL head coach. When they aren’t running practice or managing games from the sidelines, they’re going through countless hours of film study.
Back in 2013, ESPN interviewed Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh to get an idea of just how intense the schedule is for an NFL HC. On some work days, Harbaugh even has to just sleep on the couch in his office.
So nobody should fault Staley for feeling the incredible amount of stress as a head coach. Not to mention that his Chargers have a knack for constantly losing in close games, which surely only adds to Staley’s frustrations.
The Bolts fell 20-17 to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night, dropping them to 2-3 on the year. The Chargers will try to rebound when they visit the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday.
