Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been called out for faking an injury during Super Bowl 57 by a Philadelphia Eagles player.
The Chiefs are the reigning champions, having won their second championship in four years in an entertaining clash against the Eagles back in February. And they just closed off their celebrations with a ring ceremony this month.
Philly defensive end Brandon Graham reflected on the game in a recent interview with Derrick Gunn and Rob Ellis on the JAKIB Sports’ Sports Take show and discussed Mahomes’ performance.
The QB, who was named Super Bowl MVP after the Chiefs win, threw for 182 yards and three touchdowns on 21-of-27 passing. He also made six key runs, making up 44 yards on the ground despite playing with a high-ankle sprain that he aggravated during the game.
Graham reckons Mahomes did a bit of acting, however.
“When the first half came [to an end], we were in there and I was more thinking like, ‘What’s his name (Mahomes) went in there on the sideline and he’s looking like he’s hurt,” he recalled. “We’ve got to get to him, we’ve got to get to him.’ He came out, you can tell how tough he is, man, but that boy acted good. He sure put that face up [like he was hurt].”

The DE also lamented over the costly defensive slips that handed the Chiefs opportunities they wouldn’t have had otherwise.
Having made it a point to target Mahomes in the second half, the Eagles defense had five quarterback hits with no sacks as the field conditions worked against them.
“I just knew that when I saw Sweaty (Josh Sweat) when we looked at the film, there were a couple of times where if Sweaty doesn’t slip, strip-sack,” Graham added. “Oh my god, especially that first drive when he (Mahomes) threw it across the middle to (Travis) Kelce, he was right there. He slipped, and we could not believe it. When I looked at the film, it was just like ‘Man, oh man. We’re going to get that on the get-back. That’s coming back.'”
