Over the past few days, there have been rumors that the Houston Texans might end up not taking a quarterback with their No. 2 pick, and we may have a reason as to why they are not so high on CJ Stroud, who was supposed to be the second QB taken off the board behind Bryce Young.
A former NFL quarterback is dropping damning information about his behavior.
According to Brady Quinn, the top draft prospect had committed to attending the Manning Passing Academy in the past, but he ghosted them the night before and never showed up.
“That’s football royalty,” Quinn said. “And when you do that, that’s gonna kinda set off some alarms for people. Like, ‘Hey man, that’s not how you conduct yourself. Especially around the Manning family, or just in general if you’re going to be a franchise quarterback.'”
Despite that concern, Quinn believes that Stroud has all of the physical capabilities to succeed in the NFL.
“A lot of quarterbacks have put up good number in Ryan Day’s system,” Quinn said, via Day. “Great offensive line that’s ogling to have one tackle, maybe both drafted in the first round, three of his offensive linemen drafted. There’s a lot of thought that he played with a lot of talent and maybe that played a role in it as well.”

A week ago, former Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud was the betting favorite to be picked first in the upcoming NFL Draft. Now, it seems he may not be taken until the fourth pick, which belongs to the Indianapolis Colts.
We assume the Mannings approached Stroud to serve as a counselor at a recent edition of the Manning Passing Academy, which is common for college quarterbacks. He agreed but never showed up.
Another QB who had issues with the camp was Johnny Manziel who was sent home after being invited to be a coach and mentor at the Manning Passing Academy in Thibodaux, La. Rumors at the time was Manziel was out partying and got sent home by Archie Manning after showing up late to a meeting.
We all saw how his career turned out.
Unlike Manziel — Stroud has not had the type of red flags that the former Browns QB showed before, during, and after his career.
Quinn’s story could be telling about why NFL teams seem to have cooled on Stroud, but it won’t stop a QB needy team from still selecting him.
It will be interesting to see where Stroud goes in the NFL Draft.
