Sportsbooks have been losing lots of money on NFL games as of late.
Week 12’s Sunday slate saw most of the favorites win, translating into countless payouts. And Week 13 has gotten off to a pretty bad start for FanDuel in particular.
‘Thursday Night Football’ featured a spectacle between the Cowboys and Seahawks which was great for fans, but not so much for the aforementioned bookmaker. The game was only the fifth in NFL history that did not produce a single punt, with Dallas holding on for a 41-35 win.
The 47.5 Over was surpassed while the Seahawks covered as 9.5-point favorites. FanDuel has since reported that 85 percent of the wagers had the Cowboys covering as 8.5 favorites.
While the above isn’t bad at all, they ended up paying dearly for offering a same-game parlay that required Tony Pollard, CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks, and DK Metcalf to all score touchdowns any time.
Metcalf scored a 73-yard TD in the fourth quarter, with Lamb getting into the end zone on a 15-yard catch less than three minutes later. Cooks caught a seven-yard pass for a score early in the second and Pollard made a six-yard rush for six points before the end of the third.

The sportsbook noted that over 20,000 took the +3919 odds, leaving them with $13.4 million to pay out.
They must be dreading Sunday.
