Unfortunate news for former Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys linebacker Brady Poppinga, as his 17-year-old has unfortunately passed away.
Julius Poppinga had been hospitalized a week prior due to a severe asthma attack and had been in there ever since. The former two-way lineman for California’s Westlake High School unfortunately suffered a collapsed lung as a result.
Westlake high school sent condolences in a post on social media, as both the family and school reels from the unexpected passing. Westlake is scheduled to play tonight, as his father said, Julius would have wanted them to play.
Poppinga was drafted to the Green Bay Packers in the 4th round in 2005 from BYU. He would spend 6 years with the Packers, and would win a Super Bowl with his final year in Green Bay. He would play for two more teams before finally retiring in 2013.
We at Total Pro Sports send our condolences to the Poppinga family and their friends. We wish you the absolute best in this difficult time.
Westlake High School, win one for Julius.
