Bob Costas reportedly saved a life.
Costas, who works for MLB Network and TBS after a long career with NBC Sports, recently saved the life of a complete stranger who was choking at a restaurant.
Page Six reported when the fellow restaurant patron began to choke, Costas “rushed to help him” and successfully performed the Heimlich maneuver.
The date and location of Costas’ life-saving heroics are unknown, but his rep confirmed that it did happen.
“Bob doesn’t think this was that big of a deal,” Costas’ rep told Page Six. “He really feels he did what just about anyone else would do in a similar situation.”
The 71-year-old has been serving as the play-by-play announcer for the National League Division Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks. Now that Arizona has won the first two games, he will be heading out to Phoenix as the series shifts to Chase Field on Wednesday.

The 28-time Emmy Award winner has been feeling backlash due to his unenthusiastic call of the final out for the Arizona Diamondbacks in their Game 2 NLDS win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Here was Costas’ monotone final call.
“Thomas, almost in his tracks, tucks it away, and the Arizona Diamondbacks, who finished 16 games behind the Dodgers in the regular season… come into Dodger Stadium and come away with a two-game lead as they go back to Arizona in this best-three-out-of-five,” Costas said rather matter-of-factly.
Maybe a change of scenery will wake him up.
