Former NBC sportscaster Bob Costas thinks that FOX should keep Tom Brady out of the broadcast booth when the latter begins his tenure with the network in 2024.
In 2022, Brady agreed to a 10-year contract with FOX Sports worth $375 million that is expected to begin in the 2024 NFL season. Brady played 23 years in the NFL, winning a record seven Super Bowls, five Super Bowl MVPS and three league MVP awards.
During an interview with Steve Serby of the New York Post, Costas explained why he believes FOX should use Brady as a studio analyst instead of placing him in the broadcast booth.
“They didn’t ask me and I don’t expect them to, but if I were running it, I’d use him in the studio rather than on games…The glamor factor, the on-camera factor. And also, it’s less of a strain on him. The level of preparation to work a game and what it takes to get the hang of it, it’s just an easier fit in the studio.”
Brady will work on the network’s No. 1 commentary team alongside play-by-play voice Kevin Burkhardt and sideline reporter Erin Andrews. Currently, former Pro Bowl tight end Greg Olsen works alongside Burkhardt and Andrews.
The 46-year-old Brady announced his second retirement from football after the 2022 season.
