Davante Adams isn’t even finished his first season with the Las Vegas Raiders, and yet there are already rumors about him getting traded in the offseason.
In March, Adams turned down a lucrative contract extension from the Green Bay Packers and instead orchestrated a trade to the Raiders. The perennial Pro Bowler wanted to reunite with former Fresno State teammate and quarterback Derek Carr, and so he was sent to Sin City in exchange for 2022 first and second-round picks.
But the Raiders have been a huge disappointment, as they sit at 6-9 and are assured their first losing season in three years. A divorce from Carr feels inevitable, as the Raiders announced this week that he’d be benched for the final two games of the season.
With the Raiders seemingly preparing to move on from Carr, it’s not silly to wonder if they would look at moving out Adams after just one season together. And if the Raiders indeed decide to shop Adams, speculation about a return to Green Bay will surely ramp up.
One former Packers star, former offensive lineman Mark Tauscher, proposed this interesting scenario in which Green Bay lands both Adams and star tight end Darren Waller from Vegas:
A trade of this magnitude is easier said than done, of course. Adams signed a five-year deal worth $142.5 million following the move to Vegas. Waller was handed a three-year extension worth $51 million in September, and he remains one of the NFL’s few Pro Bowl-caliber tight ends.

For one, there’s no guarantee Vegas would look to trade either. And secondly, it’s hard to think Green Bay willingly taking on that much money. But it’s a fine proposal from Tauscher, and it would be an enticing win-now move for a Packers team that can’t afford to squander any more of Aaron Rodgers’ prime years.
