Matt Araiza is considering filing a lawsuit against the woman who accused him of rape after his exoneration.
The former Buffalo Bills punter has been cleared of wrongdoing as prosecutors have determined he had already left a party before an alleged gang rape took place and will not be facing criminal charges.
A civil lawsuit filed against the 23-year-old prompted the Bills to release him last summer. And, while all criminal charges have been dropped, the suit remains, with the accuser still going forward with it.
The punter was recently interviewed by Tomi Lahren of Outkick and revealed he isn’t planning to settle and might even sue her himself if she doesn’t dismiss her suit.
“The damage has been done, and if I was to settle, that would waive my right to countersue,” Araiza noted. “So at this point, we’re the heavy favorite, and continuing this any longer is going to be very damaging for them. So I’m not willing to settle.”

ProFootballTalk reported earlier this month that the district attorney’s office found out that Araiza couldn’t have led the girl into the alleged gang rape due to him leaving the location around 12:30 AM, an hour before the rape would have taken place, according to the evidence.
“He wasn’t even at the party anymore,” said deputy district attorney Trisha Amador explained. “All I know is that at that point, suspect Araiza is gone from the party.”
Prosecutors also told the accuser that video recordings of the incident do not show that an actual gang rape did occur, as opposed to consensual sex with the males who were actually present.
