Buffalo Bills fans came together to support San Francisco 49ers star cornerback Charvarius Ward, one month after the tragic passing of his one-year-old daughter.
Charvarius Ward announced in a heartbreaking social media post last month that his daughter, Amani Joy, passed away. Amani was born with Down syndrome and experienced heart issues.
With Ward’s 49ers coming to Buffalo to take on Josh Allen’s group on ‘Sunday Night Football’, Bills Mafia came together to support the veteran cornerback and his family during this unimaginable tragedy.
Charvarius Ward runs the “Change with Charvarius” charity, and the website states the following on their mission:
“Our organization is dedicated to empowering individuals with Down syndrome and their families through providing advocacy, education and research. We strive to foster inclusivity, understanding, and support, while members of this community realize their full potential and enjoy meaningful participation in society.”
Bills fan Del Reid took to X/Twitter and encouraged fellow Buffalo fans to support Charvarius Ward and his charity. As of 1:00 p.m. EST, the post had over 660 reposts and more than 2,900 likes:

I saw someone earlier this week suggest #BillsMafia donate to his charity. Great idea if you are so inclined: https://t.co/wGly9fQnu6 https://t.co/aHdvXYekVO

Whether you’re a Bills fan or not, you have to admire and respect the passion and sincerity of this fanbase. This isn’t the first time where Buffalo fans came together to support an opposing player’s charity, either.
You may recall that the Bills ended an 18-year playoff drought in 2017 when Andy Dalton led the Cincinnati Bengals to a stunning road win against the Baltimore Ravens, who needed a victory to qualify. With the Bengals helping the Bills get in, Dalton’s charity received many generous donations from Buffalo fans.
Charvarius Ward, who won a Super Bowl 54 ring with the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2019 season, is in the last of a three-year deal he signed with the 49ers in 2022.
Football Community Is Behind Chavarius Ward & His Family
Losing a child under any circumstance is horrific and impossible to comprehend. Folks are with Ward and his family during a truly difficult period.
Ward returned to practice this week after missing the 49ers’ last three games. No matter which team you support, everybody should be rooting for Charvarius Ward when he returns to the field.
