Bill O’Brien continues to dig himself an even bigger hole after he engineered a trade to send all-pro DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals in one of the most lopsided trades in NFL history.
On Friday, the Houston Texans head coach said that DeAndre Hopkins wanted a raise while having 3 years left on his deal and the team did not want to do it.
O’Brien added that they felt Arizona was the best deal and said it was in the best interest of the team.
Hopkins were reportedly looking for a new deal that would pay him in the range of $18-20 million per year.
The deal was not only bad, but it saw the Texans take on David Johnson’s contract and acquire a second-round pick. The team is now without a top tier WR on the team and now will lean even more on Texans QB Deshaun Watson, who deserves so much better than this.
