Bill Belichick continues to show that he’s playing chess while everybody else in the NFL is playing checkers.
Up 33-0 in the fourth quarter, the Patriots lined up to punt, but Belichick told his special teams to run some clock and take a ‘Delay of Game’ penalty. Jets head coach Adam Gase wasn’t having it, so he declined the penalty. Bill then ordered his team to jump off-sides, once again, Gase declined it.
Many people initially thought he was just screwing around with the Jets.
In actuality, the Patriots were just running more and more clock to speed the game along and has been doing so on damn near every game. Buy the time New England punted the ball, the clock had went from 11:13 left in the game to 9:43.
