Bill Belichick likely won’t be in the NFL in 2024 and that is crazy to think about after the run he had with the New England Patriots.
The argument that the diminishment of Bill Belichick’s coaching impact has gone too far in the wake of his mutual parting with the Patriots and now one current player is adding to it.
It has been quite the busy coaching cycle, but not so much for Bill Belichick who has only had two interviews, and that was with the same team. Seven NFL teams were or are looking for a new head coach, yet only one has talked to the six-time Super Bowl winner: The Atlanta Falcons. They have since decided to hire somebody else.
Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey decided to openly taunt Belichick while suggesting his lack of interest and job was an indictment of Belichick’s legacy.
“The ‘greatest coach of all time’ did not get hired out of six Head Coaching jobs open,” Humphrey wrote. “I think that debate can be put to rest now.”
For 20 years, Bill Belichick and Tom Brady were the perfect NFL duo.

The pair went 219-64 in the regular season with Brady at quarterback, 21-8 in the playoffs, and 6-3 in the Super Bowl.
Towards the end, Belichick went so far as to tell Patriots owner Robert Kraft that Brady “couldn’t play anymore,” so he went and signed with Tampa Bay and the Buccaneers a Super Bowl in 2021.
The Patriots have only had one good season since his departure.
Belichick came into the NFL head coach market for the first time in over two decades in 2024, and despite multiple openings, it looks as though the six-time Super Bowl champion will stay unemployed next season.
If the 71-year-old coach sits out a year and comes back to the NFL at 72, there is still no guarantee that a team wants to bring a coach his age to the team.
