Bill Belichick is not happy with kicker Chad Ryland following his costly miss against the New York Giants on Sunday.
The New England Patriots suffered their ninth loss of the season and could have gotten themselves a stay of execution with a field goal from 35 yards out as the clock wound down. But Ryland ended up missing, with the kick going wide left to leave the Pats nursing a 10-7 defeat.
Belichick was a guest on ‘The Greg Hill Show’ this Monday and had a message for the rookie.
“Chad is a very talented player,” the head coach remarked. “But this is two weeks in a row that we basically missed extra points. It’s not good enough.”
Ryland is well aware and has already owned up.
“I missed that kick,” he said after the game. “There’s no easy way around it. There’s no soft way around it. I missed the kick. I completely own that, and I’ll take responsibility for that every day of the week. The protection was good, snap was good, hold was good. I’ve got to do a better job of making that kick.”

While the conditions weren’t that great, any NFL kicker is expected to hit the target from 35 yards, which is why a large section of the internet felt like he missed it on purpose.
The Patriots have had a horrendous campaign so far, yet this latest loss was not as bad given that they will benefit from their struggles when the draft comes around.
No one’s going to admit it, though.
