The New England Patriots have a new star running back in their ranks following their acquisition of Ezekiel Elliot this week.
The former Dallas Cowboys player joined the Pats from free agency following his release earlier this year and will hope to reignite his career in Boston after experiencing a dip in form last season.
Head coach Bill Belichick didn’t have a choice but to say something about his new player when he spoke to reporters on Wednesday. To be fair, he actually said a bit more than was expected as he opened up on how the RB will be worked into the offense.
“Yeah, good to have Zeke,” he said before the day’s joint practice against the Green Bay Packers, per NESN. “We had a good visit with him and I look forward to working with him.”
“Well, we’ll see,” he replied when asked what Elliot could bring to the offense. “I’ve never coached Zeke before, but I’m glad we have him. I spent time with him last night and on the trip to (go over) terminology and plays and protections, things like that. We’ll work him in there when he’s ready and see how that goes.”
While it was more than reporters could hope for, it doesn’t reveal much and we’ll just have to wait and see.
The three-time Pro Bowler took to the practice field early on Wednesday morning, though the team might take things slow with him for now.
