Former Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is inching closer toward a new job following his departure from New England earlier this month.
Belichick, who won six Super Bowls with the Pats, has mutually parted ways with the team on the back of a 24-year spell in charge.
It appears as if he will be the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons as Ian Rapoport of NFL Media is reporting that the 71-year-old has a second meeting scheduled with the NFC outfit, having recently met with owner Arthur Blank one-on-one.
“Former #Patriots coach Bill Belichick will have a second interview with the #Falcons brass this weekend after meeting with owner Arthur Blank 1-on-1 this past week,” Rapoport shared via X. “Things are ramping up with the greatest coach of all time…”
Belichick is understood to have made it known that he wanted his next team to fit a certain model; i.e., underachievers boasting a talented roster.
The Falcons are exactly that as they are just a few pieces and competent coaching away from the playoffs.

A second interview does suggest that the Falcons are the favorites to appoint Belichick as their new head coach. However, nothing’s done yet.
