Jerry Jones is once again raising eyebrows with his comments just before his franchise gets set to play in their most important postseason in recent memory.
The Dallas Cowboys secured the NFC East’s top spot with a resounding 38-10 win over the Washington Commanders in Week 18, but owner Jerry Jones made some comments that made it appear that head coach Mike McCarthy’s job security isn’t set in stone.
Jones told reporters, per Clarence Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, that “we’ll see how each game goes” in the playoffs when asked about McCarthy’s future with the team.
Peter King saw those comments and thought they were curious. It made him think that Jones is leaving the door open for the team to go after Bill Belichick should the New England Patriots decide to part ways with him this offseason.
The Cowboys’ first test will come against the Green Bay Packers in the wild-card round which is Mike McCarthy’s old team.
Dallas has made the playoffs in the past two seasons under McCarthy, however, the team has failed to advance past the divisional round.

The Cowboys have still not appeared in an NFC Championship game since their 1995 Super Bowl-winning season and Jerry Jones is sick of it.
