The New England Patriots were able to notch a win on Christmas Eve, but even the team finishing strong may not be enough to save the job for Bill Belichick.
With two games left on the schedule and the Patriots already eliminated from playoff contention, Belichick could be playing out his final days in Foxborough and it appears he is well aware of it.
According to Boston Sports Journal’s Mike Giardi, Belichick has “expressed doubt” about his future to the Patriots’ staff over the past few weeks.
Giardi also added that he the coach has yet to sit down with ownership to discuss what’s next.
“Speaking of Belichick, he has expressed doubt about his future in New England to the staff at various points over the last few weeks. To the best of my knowledge (and as reported on NFL Network this weekend), he has yet to sit down with ownership. If he won’t survive, I think this is a massive misstep by RKK/JKK,” Giardi wrote.
CBS Sports lead NFL insider Jonathan Jones reported earlier this month that people around the NFL believe Belichick is coaching in his final games with the Patriots.

Publicly, Belichick has largely dismissed any questions regarding his future.
Belichick was asked about his job security during his weekly appearance on The Greg Hill Show but he gave his typical answer.
“Yeah, my job is to get the team ready to play every week,” he explained. “That’s what I do, so. That’s what I’m going to keep doing. That’s what I’ve always done.”
As for Kraft, he has not been vocal about Belichick’s prospects to continue coaching beyond this year.
New England will travel to Buffalo to face the Bills in Week 17 and then will wrap up the season at home in Week 18 against the Jets.
