Bill Belichick is expected to take over as the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons following his departure from New England. However, that might not be so certain anymore.
According to The Athletic’s Josh Kendall, the move “has lost momentum in the past week” as the Falcons haven’t limited their options in searching for a new coach and don’t consider their situation a “Belichick or bust” one.
While Belichick and Falcons owner Arthur Blank reportedly had dinner together recently and Blank understood to be desperate to hire the six-time Super Bowl winner, the team is doing its due diligence as they assess the best coordinators and coaching candidates.
According to reports, they’ve scheduled interviews with Michigan HC Jim Harbaugh, Houston Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik, Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, and Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike McDonald.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter has also reported that the market for Belichick isn’t as active as one would have expected when he was let go by the Patriots, with Atlanta the only team to have reached out.

Should the Falcons choose to go in another direction, Belichick could be in danger of going jobless in 2024.
