New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has broken his silence on speculation that he has already planned out his exit from Foxborough.
Two weeks ago, it was reported that the 71-year-old head coach is ready to leave New England and that he knows which team he wants to join next. Many expect Belichick and the Patriots to part ways amid another disappointing year for the once-proud organization.
During an appearance on WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show”, Belichick gave a typical short-and-sweet response to speculation that he already has his next team picked out.
“Yeah, that’s ridiculous,” Belichick said.
Asked if he could envision himself coaching outside of New England, Belichick again steered clear of giving any eyebrow-raising comments.
“Just trying to do the best job I can right now,” Belichick said. “Obviously, I need to do better…I don’t worry about what everybody else is saying. I’ve heard good, I’ve heard bad. I don’t really care,” he added on a question about outside criticism.

Sunday’s frustrating 10-7 road loss to the New York Giants clinched New England’s third losing season in four years. With the playoffs well out of reach, the Pats are also about to suffer a fifth straight losing campaign without a single postseason victory.
The Patriots were at least competitive in 2020 (7-9) and 2022 (8-9, eliminated from the postseason on the final day of the season), but this 2023 group is unquestionably the organization’s worst team since the 1992 club that went 2-14.
Only time will tell if the Patriots and Belichick part ways after this season. If that ends up happening, there certainly won’t be a shortage of teams interested in the legendary head coach.
