Where will Cam Newton play in 2020? That is the question everyone is trying to guess the answer to after the Carolina Panthers released him from the roster on Tuesday.
It looks like the answer will be the Miami Dolphins, who currently atop FanDuel’s odds to sign him at +200. Next up are the Jacksonville Jaguars at (+250) and Los Angeles Chargers (+350).
The Dolphins currently have Ryan Fitzpatrick as starting QB, and Cam would not only be a significant upgrade, he can definitely mentor Tua Tagovailoa or Justin Herbert, if the team chooses to take a QB in the 2020 NFL Draft.
The Jags recently traded Nick Foles and if they aren’t convinced Gardner Minshew is the answer going forward, they may look to sign Newton to a long-term deal.
The Chargers also make sense as they have Tyrod Taylor leading under center right now, and would desperately need a big name like Cam Newton to open up their new stadium in 2020. The team could barely sell out a soccer stadium in the last few years, and that was mostly done by opposing fans.
Newton’s 9-year tenure with the franchise ended with him as the franchise’s all-time leader in passing yards (29,041), passing touchdowns (182), pass attempts (3,980), pass completions (2,371), 300-yard passing games (19), rushing touchdowns (58) and wins by a quarterback (68).
