Much to the excitement of countless NFL fans, the Cincinnati Bengals donned their new white helmets during Friday’s practice.
Back in July, the Bengals revealed a new alternate white helmet that garnered plenty of praise from the football world. The defending AFC Champions are one of 13 teams that introduced alternate helmets prior to the 2022 season.
The other teams that revealed new helmets for the 2022 season were the Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints, New York Giants, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders.

Last year, the NFL announced a new rule change to the helmet policy which allows each team to use one alternate helmet. The rule went into effect for this season, and nearly half the teams decided to capitalize on the opportunity.
Some teams displayed more futuristic looks and colors with their new alternate helmets. Other clubs like the Jets, Giants and Patriots paid homage to their old team logos by using them on the alternates.
The Bengals have dropped each of their first two games to open the season. They lost to the rival Pittsburgh Steelers 23-20 in overtime at home in Week 1, then fell to the Dak Prescott-less Dallas Cowboys 20-17 in Week 2 on a last-second field goal by Brett Maher.
Cincinnati will aim for their first win of the season when they visit the 1-1 New York Jets on Sunday (1:00 p.m. EST). After that, they’ll return home for a contest against Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins.
If the Bengals don’t start finding their momentum soon, there will surely be more calls for them to try something new and debut the white helmets as soon as possible. We’ll find out in short time if Joe Burrow and company can the 0-2 Bengals back on track.
