Fans went in on Mac Jones following what appeared to be a dangerous play during the New England Patriots’ loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday. And so did Eli Apple.
The Pats quarterback stands accused of taking a cheap shot at the Bengals cornerback during the fourth quarter of their Week 16 matchup, with Jones wiping Apple out away from the actual play while the latter wasn’t looking.
Apple was asked whether he realized what happened and branded the play a dirty one, accusing Mac of having done this in the past.
“Of course I did. He tripped me,” the CB told NESN.com. “I thought it was a dirty play. He’s done that before, I’ve seen it.”
The Silver-ish Lining
While Apple was none too pleased with Jones’ cheap shot, he took heart from the fact that the Pats’ playoff hopes are all but over.
