Losing in the Super Bowl sucks. Even when you’re a young player like Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.
Sure, he’s only in his first NFL season and still has plenty of time to get that ring. But as we’ve seen throughout history, making it this far isn’t easy (unless you’re Tom Brady). We all saw what happened to Dan Marino. So you can’t help but think that players have a better understanding of how precious every opportunity to win a Lombardi Trophy really is.
Chase seems to understand, as he voiced his frustrations on Twitter following the tough loss to the Rams:
That’s pretty much all that needs to be said.
Chase had himself a decent game, hauling in five of eight targets for 89 yards in a losing effort.
The good news for Chase is his team is built to win for many years to come — especially with him, Joe Burrow and Tee Higgins leading the offense. The bad news is there are several other teams in the AFC who are also built to compete for Super Bowls over the course of the next decade. So getting back to the big game may not be as easy as the Bengals made it look this season.
