The Cincinnati Bengals are in contract talks right now with star wideout Ja’Marr Chase after the LSU product is reportedly asking to be paid more than fellow LSU alumni Justin Jefferson, causing difficulties in reaching an agreement.
The Bengals star has been holding out of training camp, causing speculation about his availability for the team’s regular season week one match-up. The team is set to take on the Drake Maye-led New England Patriots.
Obviously, the Bengals are in for a difficult match-up, and they most likely want their top receiver on the field for week one. In a recent post to X, Adam Schefter reported that the team’s head coach, Zac Taylor, has changed his mind on Chase’s status for Sunday.
Schefter stated that the Bengals bench boss, who just last week commented that Chase would be joining Joe Burrow and company on the field in week one, stated that the three-time pro bowler would be considered a “day by day,” which has some Cincy fans worried.
Mixed Reaction In Cincinnati As Ja’Marr Chase Considered Day By Day
Some fans are more worried about their fantasy teams than the Bengals’ success as one fan commented that they “Need him out there baby fantasy points won’t score themselves,” while another pleaded with Chase, “please play!”

Another fan was upset about Taylor’s comments on his star receiver. They predicted that Ja’Marr Chase wouldn’t play in week one, adding a couple of crying emojis, while another claimed the Bengals would be 0-1 after this week.
While he may want a little more than the team thinks he’s worth, many fans are just telling the Bengals to sign their star pass catcher as one fan put it, “make it happen.” One fan even predicted that the “deal will get done.”
Bengals fans will have to wait for Chase to sign his extension with the team if he decides to hold out. He has two years remaining on his current deal, so it could be a long two years in Cincy.
