Ben Roethlisberger is in the cusp of coming off a major elbow surgery and wanting to show people that he still has something left in the tank.
Just recently, the 38-year-old QB made waves when he sent out a coronavirus PSA and showed off his huge Santa Claus-esque beard that seemingly has been growing in quarantine over the past few years.
In a recent interview with Ron Cook of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette — Roethlisberger made sure to call out everybody who has accused him of getting fat over the past few months. He actually blamed his beard for that.
“I’ve heard people say I’m fat, and that just blows my mind,” Roethlisberger said. “I’m lighter and in better shape than I was in either of the past two years. I haven’t stopped working out. I normally don’t work out in the offseason, but I’ve been doing everything five days a week with my trainer. Cardio twice a week. Legs twice a week. Upper body twice a week …
“I guess it’s my beard that makes me look heavier. I must have five pounds in that, I know. But I’m not overweight.”
Roethlisberger has never looked on the slim side during his time in the league, but he certainly doesn’t want people adding on pounds that certainly aren’t there.
