This is why having a spring football league is good for players trying to get back into the NFL.
Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Ben DiNucci and Jack Coan, who played collegiately at Wisconsin and Notre Dame, are among 19 players from the XFL that will be getting tryouts with various teams during upcoming minicamps, the league announced Thursday.
DiNucci has been invited to the Denver Broncos minicamp. Fans will remember him as a seventh-round selection in the 2020 NFL draft by the Cowboys out of James Madison University. He started one game for Dallas ― a 23-9 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Nov. 1, 2020. He was waived by the team during training camp in 2022 and he would then take his talents to the Seattle Sea Dragons of the XFL.
The 26-year-old threw for 2,671 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions for the Sea Dragons this season.
Coan was invited to attend minicamp with the Jets and Seahawks.
