Only the freaking Bears.
The Chicago Bears were in the midst of trying to put points on the board when they lined up for a field goal in 49ers territory.
The team brought out a towel to wipe up the rain from the spot from where the ball would be placed down. That, of course, is not allowed in the NFL, so the Bears were flagged on the play.
And to make matters worse, the penalty knocked them out of field goal range.
“Unsportsmanlike conduct. Chicago, #16. Brought a towel out on the field during the dead-ball period and wiped the field down. By rule that’s illegal.”

In case you missed it, the Bears and Niners are dealing with treacherous field conditions at Soldier Field this afternoon. The new turn at the stadium has been taking quite the beating from all of the rain.
Scenes from field before the game were going viral on Twitter.
And it hasn’t gotten much better during the game, as players have been seen slipping and sliding all over the place.
After seeing all of this, you can’t help but think that maybe it’s time for Chicago to consider a new stadium — especially when it’s costing your own team field-goal opportunities.
