Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy is suing the NFL over Joe Burrow’s injury, he announced in a video message on X (formerly known as Twitter).
On Thursday night, Portnoy posted a massive $120,000 bet for the Cincinnati Bengals to cover the four-point spread against the AFC North rival Baltimore Ravens. If the Bengals covered, Portnoy would have gotten a $229,090.91 payout.
The Bengals lost starting quarterback Joe Burrow in the second quarter with a wrist injury. On Friday, the Bengals announced that Burrow suffered a torn ligament in his throwing wrist, and that he’s out for the season.
Burrow was seen wearing something on his wrist while on the Bengals’ team plane prior to Thursday’s game, leading to speculation that he was nursing an injury that the club led to disclose.
That has prompted an investigation from the NFL for potential injury report compliance. Portnoy, meanwhile, is planning to sue the NFL after losing out on a massive six-figure payout.
