Barry Sanders is 54 years old. He’s no longer the formidable running back who struck fear into opponents, and he’s definitely not as energetic as he used to be.
The former Detroit Lions star simply could not remain awake while at the Heisman House in Nashville this week, and Robert Griffin III exposed him sleeping on a couch.
Nissan is filming ads for the annual Heisman campaign and the two were part of the affair. Sanders, who was wearing his Oklahoma State No. 21 jersey, was seen dozing off with his mouth open while his neck struggled to maintain the weight of his head as it fell back.
RGIII, who was laughing the whole time, cut the video short after some noise came from the background as it appears Sanders may have woken up.
Why’d you have to do the OG like that?
Sanders, a Hall of Famer, earned his Heisman House spot after scoring a whopping 37 touchdowns and 2,734 scrimmage yards for Oklahoma State in 1988. He would go on to score 109 touchdowns and register 18,190 yards in 10 years with the Lions.

It appears the events of the day took a toll on the former star RB as he was clearly exhausted and couldn’t stay awake by the time RGIII pulled the camera out.
