The Detroit Lions have lost yet another player in the early 30’s, but this time, they gave the player what they wanted instead of wasting more of their career.
Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders took to Twitter so he could simply thank Matthew Stafford after the Lions sent him to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for quarterback Jared Goff, two first-round picks (2022, 2023) and a third round pick (2021). Thus ended his 12-year career with the team where he went 74-90-1 as a starter, with three playoff appearances, but zero wins.
Sanders, who delt with a ton of losing in Detroit, had this to say on Twitter:
Stafford will be 33-years-old by the time the 2021 season begins.
Sanders was a healthy 30-years-old when he decided to walk away from the team and the sport.
