Lukas Garcia, the attorney for Falcons LB Barkevious Mingo, calls the indecency with a child charge “completely baseless.”
The Atlanta Falcons have issued the following statement, via Pro Football Talk:
“Our organization became aware of the allegations involving Barkevious Mingo today and are currently gathering information on this incident. The Falcons take the allegations very seriously and will continue to monitor the situation.”
On Saturday, it was reported that the Falcons linebacker was arrested in Texas this week for “indecency with a child, sexual contact,” according to TMZ Sports. That charge is considered a second-degree felony that could carry a 20-year prison sentence if convicted. He has since posted a $25,000 bond and has been released.
The 30-year-old spent the 2020 season with the Bears before signing on with the Falcons this past March.
In 2020, Mingo appeared in all 16 games for the Bears and recorded 34 tackles, 2.5 sacks and two pass defenses.
