Matt Elam was a star with the Florida Gators and he was so good to get himself selected with the 32nd pick of the 2013 NFL Draft. Things have changed considerably since then.
Seven years later and Elam found himself in the XFL.
Now that’s over after the DC Defenders parted ways with him four games into the 2020 season. The move came after Elam registered 12 tackles in a 25-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Vipers.
That performance gave him 15 tackles on the season, which is tied for fourth on the team.
He seemed to have a great performance that wouldn’t warrant him being cut, but the game was a blowout, so his stats seem to be really inflated.
It is highly likely he was cut because of his past off-the-field behavior which has led to him being arrested twice in 2017 on drug charges and for grand theft and battery.

The Ravens released Elam in 2016 and now the once promising defensive back may have squandered away his final chance to prove himself in playing professional football.
