Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield is reportedly going to miss Monday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders at FirstEnergy Stadium becausehe could not produce two negative tests.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported both Mayfield and Browns backup Case Keenum weren’t able clear protocols, so Nick Mullens will start at QB against the Raiders.
Soon after the news, Baker Mayfield’s wife, Emily, posted on Twitter that her husband did what he could to be cleared for the game:
“Super Frustrating since he feels 110%. He did EVERYTHING he could to get that negative test…but we can only control what’s within our control. And this isn’t one of those things.
You better believe we’ll be cheering LOUD from out couch. Our guys can get it done!!

Mayfield has battled injuries for the majority of the 2021 season, so despite him wanting to play in this game, this could do nothing but help his health going forward since they have to play on Saturday against the Packers.
The 26-year-old has posted 2,603 passing yards, 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions, completing 62.8 percent of his passes in 12 games.
