Emily Mayfield is incredibly sad to be leaving Cleveland.
The wife of Baker Mayfield poured out her emotions on Instagram after it was announced her husband would start the season as the starting quarterback in Carolina after a tumultuous end to his career in Cleveland.
“It’s obviously been an emotional couple of days,” Emily said on Instagram. “Baker and I left last season, truly expecting to come back for another season (like the previous 4 years).
“No part of me thought it’d be the last time we’d leave that house together or the last time we’d shut it down to head out on our off-season adventures.”
Emily continued:
“I am leaving Cleveland with such fond memories,” she added. “I’m leaving this house with a full heart. This week brought A LOT of tears. It brought tons of nostalgia. But I’m so happy I felt those feelings… it means it was a good ride.”

While she is excited to create new memories, she admitted “there’s just something about that first place ….. Thank you, CLE. You’ll forever hold a special place in my heart.”
Emily — who was a regular at Mayfield’s games during his time in Cleveland — showed off her new Panthers gear earlier this month which included a custom jean jacket decked out in Carolina’s blue and black color scheme.
Mayfield landed with the Panthers four months after he initially requested a trade out of Cleveland. At the time, the Browns made a surprise play for his replacement in then-Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.
Mayfield is now the starter for his new team. The Panthers will host the Browns in Week 1.
