Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ quarterback Baker Mayfield had quite the message for Minnesota Vikings’ cornerback Byron Murphy during Sunday’s game at U.S. Bank Stadium.
During the season opener on Sunday, Mayfield stiff-armed Murphy on a running play. After getting tackled, a fired up mayfield up to the veteran cornerback and told and told Murphy to get his weight up:
For what it’s worth, Murphy is listed at 190 pounds, and Mayfield is listed at 215. The former is measured at 5-foot-11 in height, while Mayfield is approximately 6-foot-1.
Mayfield did just enough to help the Bucs upset the Vikings, completing 21 of 34 pass attempts for 173 yard and two touchdowns to go along with 11 rushing yards on eight carries. Mayfield didn’t throw a single interception and took just one sack on the day.
The 2018 first overall pick is on his fourth team in just three years. Last offseason, the Cleveland Browns traded Mayfield to the Carolina Panthers after the AFC North club completed a trade for Houston Texans’ quarterback Deshaun Watson.
Mayfield was released by the Panthers after a tough start, in which he lost five of six games while throwing just six touchdowns. After the Los Angeles Rams lost Matthew Stafford for the year to injury, they brought in Mayfield to finish out the club’s last four games.
