The last two Heisman Trophy winners in the NCAA are going to face each other in the NFL later on this year.
They were teammates at Oklahoma, but Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray will be on opposite sides of the field come Week 15 in a game that could possibly have playoff implications for one or both of the teams.
When that December game comes around, Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield said “there will absolutely be smack talk” for that game against Murray and the Cardinals, according to Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot.
“That’s my guy,’’ he said. “It’ll be fun to play against him after competing against him in practice and being around him everyday. It’ll make this matchup so much more enjoyable. I will be looking forward to watching him go through his first year. We get to play him in December so it’ll be cool seeing how he grows throughout the year. It’s a process. I had to learn that the hard way but I’ll be there to support him.’’
Mayfield definitley anticipates Murray will experience some bumps in the road of his development.
After a great showing last season and with the addition of Odell Beckham Jr. and others, the Browns are widely considered to be a player in the postseason this season.
