It is going to be a long year for the Tampa Bay Bucs. The franchise has been on cloud nine for the past few years with Tom Brady behind center, but those days are over now that he has headed into retirement for the second time.
The Buccaneers’ looming quarterback battle to replace the legendary Tom Brady isn’t off to the strongest start.
After a few wayward throws by both quarterbacks, the video of journeyman Baker Mayfield and third-year backup Kyle Trask going through light passing drills during the team’s OTAs went viral Tuesday.
Here’s a compilation of the two quarterbacks’ throws from today.
Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask are battling to serve as Tampa Bay’s starting quarterback in the Buccaneers’ first season without star signal-caller Tom Brady in 2023, and it appears each player is trying their best to hand the other one the job.
There has been much media coverage on new Bucs QB Baker Mayfield since he signed with Tampa Bay.

Former NFL QB Ryan Leaf sat down with NFL Network’s Good Morning Football last week and stated he thought his tenure in Los Angeles with the Rams to end 2022 was strong and that Mayfield will win the starting job.
“I like him to be the starter in Tampa Bay,” Lead said. “I think he can do a good enough job to make them a possible playoff contender in that division.”
Although Mayfield hasn’t won the starting job just yet, his standing in the QB room will likely become clearer as training camp kicks off and preseason begins to roll around.
We can only hope that his throws are much better, because the Bucs are looking like a prime candidate to have the No. 1 overall draft pick in the 2024 Draft.
