One week ago, the Carolina Panthers finally made their move with the Cleveland Browns—acquiring quarterback Baker Mayfield.
It did not take him long to make himself at home after quickly earning an advertising deal with a local fixture.
During Tuesday’s introductory media session, Mayfield confessed that he has yet to eat at Bojangles.
“I haven’t had that yet, but I’m told I need to do that as soon as possible,” Mayfield said of the fast-food franchise. “I’ll probably wait a little bit. It’s not exactly on a training camp diet, but I’m looking forward to it.”
The Charlotte-based company wasted little time to jump on this marketing opportunity.
Bojangles took to Twiter and posted an image with Mayfield serving biscuits.

“Ready whenever you are,” the company tweeted at Mayfield.
Mayfield confirmed Tuesday that there are no plans for any more “At Home with Baker Mayfield” Progressive ads showing his move to Bank of America Stadium.
Mayfield’s relationship with the Browns began to deteriorate earlier this year when the club made a surprise play for his replacement in then-Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson. The team acquired Watson in March, signing him to a five-year, $230 million contract, fully guaranteed.
Despite the drama, Mayfield said there is no animosity toward the Browns when looking back on his tenure in Cleveland.
“It’s a good football town that gave me the first four years of my career,” he said. “I’m thankful for those trials and tribulations, all the challenges, a lot to learn from and look back on and reflect. I’m really focused right now on being a Carolina Panther and I’m pumped up to do so.”
