You can question Baker Mayfield’s quarterbacking all you want, but no one can ever doubt the man’s toughness.
The former first-overall pick has taken his fair share of brutal hits throughout his career, and he’s bounced back from most of them. That was once again the case today, as Mayfield was bent in half by a late hit from Saints defensive tackle David Onyemata after throwing a touchdown pass to Cade Otton.
Shockingly, Mayfield was able to shake this hit off and return to the game. According to former NFL doctor David J. Chao, he was lucky to escape a high ankle of knee injury.
I guess all those extra stretches throughout the week paid off for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback.
