A young football player who goes by the nickname of “Baby Gronk” went viral this week on social media and while he garnered a bunch of positive attention, it would quickly turn really bad after The Athletic released a profile on “Baby Gronk” and his father.
The boy’s father, Jake San Miguel, says that he is doing everything he can to set his son up for football success, but most saw his actions as going too far.
“We put five or six days a week of training,” his father said. “He diets, he eats clean foods, salmon and brown rice. He is in a routine. He’s a real athlete. He’s not a normal kid.”
Many folks called him out on it and that included former NFL linebacker, Will Compton.
“This is for Baby Gronk’s father. You are not coming on ‘Bussin’ With The Boys.’ I personally disagree with what you’re doing,” Compton said. “What I think, is that you’re exploiting your son for social clout, status, fame, money and to fill a void that you couldn’t fill on your own.”
Baby Gronk’s father would see that comment and fire back in a video.
“You do content. You get paid off the internet. That’s all we’re doing. It’s a new day, a new generation,” he said. “You see how all these kids are nowadays? On their iPads, on their phones all day. He is a kid, but at the same time, he does a little workout.”

Former NFL lineman Geoff Schwartz said he thought the child’s father’s methods were “aggressive,” saying that he should “let the kid be a kid.”
We have become accustomed to teenagers growing their fan base online, but ABaby Gronk starting off so early will only lead to other parents doing the same in the future in attempts to cash out and nothing seems right about it no matter how you slice it.
These young kids aren’t having the opportunity to experience life without having a camera in their faces recording their every move all under the guise of making constant content for social media.
As “Baby Gronk’s” fame grows, it appears that the animosity toward his father will also grow.
