The Philadelphia Eagles are 2-0 after their Week Two victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday Night Football.
Unfortunately for Philadelphia, it appears they may have lost a significant figure on the team. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Avonte Maddox is feared to have torn his pectoral against the Vikings on Thursday.
“He is expected to get a second opinion; if it is confirmed, he would be out for the season,” Schefter reports.
This is bad news for an Eagles secondary who had to play without CB James Bradberry and S Reed Blankenship on Thursday night.
In Maddox’s absence Thursday night, 2022 undrafted free agent Mario Goodrich filled in and played 39 snaps.
A fourth-round pick in 2018, Maddox has played his entire career with the Eagles. He missed much of last year’s regular season with a hamstring injury, but did play in nine games with eight starts. He recorded an interception, three passes defensed, and three forced fumbles last season.

In two games this year, Maddox has two passes defensed and a forced fumble.
He is one of the best slot corners in the NFL when healthy, but it seems there will always be durability concerns.
