It’s starting to look more and more like that Los Angeles Chargers will be without star running back Austin Ekeler this Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Ekeler missed Thursday’s practice as he continues to deal with an ankle injury. The 28-year-old was also absent from Wednesday’s practice.
Ekeler was hurt in Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins, a 36-34 Chargers’ loss. Ekeler was one of the Chargers’ most productive players, rushing for 117 yards and a touchdown to go along with four receptions for 47 yards.
Ekeler has been one of the NFL’s most productive offensive players since 2019, surpassing 1,500 yards from scrimmage three times (2019, 2021 and 2022). He led the NFL in touchdowns in 2021 and 2022 with 20 and 18, respectively.
The undrafted 2017 product has surpassed 900 yards rushing in each of the last two years, with 15 total rushing scores over that span. Ekeler helped the Chargers to a postseason appearance last year, but they fell to the Jacksonville Jaguars 31-30 in the AFC Wild Card Round.
For his career, Ekeler has 7,339 yards of offense and 64 total touchdowns.
