Pregame warmups got heated between the Chargers and Cowboys ahead of their clash on Monday Night Football. Before the two sides got to fighting it out on the field, they got to an actual fight.
During pregame warm-ups for the Week 6, Monday Night Football matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Chargers, a confrontation between players turned into fists flying on both sides.
Running back Austin Ekeler, who was playing peacemaker and got punched, explained what started the interaction.
“Hey, what was going on down there, man. What the heck? We’re going through our normal warmup routine, right? We’re just in our stations and stuff, doing our little drills and everything. The DB’s come running onto the field, and it’s just the normal DB’s on the field.
“But at the same time, I don’t know if it was the defensive lineman or some group for Dallas was also running out on the field. I think they were trying to use the same area. I think there was some type of altercation there and I’m in the vicinity. All of a sudden, I hear a bunch of ‘Hey’, ‘Hey’, ‘Hey’. And people were scrummaging around, I’m looking around and all a sudden like, what the heck? Like what’s going on?”
Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News wrote that Dante Fowler Jr., Sam Williams, and Mazi Smith were the main Cowboys players involved in the scuffle.
