Austin Ekeler has been the best touchdown scorer in the entire league over the last three seasons but he is not looking like he once did and that was on full display this past Sunday.
Ekeler is inching closer to the age of 30 and he is predictably starting to slow down. 30 might be normal in the real world but it’s basically a death sentence for a running back’s NFL career and Chargers fans have noticed.
Ekeler provided the most damning clip of the season against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday and it is very obvious why he is slowing down as a runner.
With the speed he should have, that should’ve ended with a long touchdown, not a tackle of him near the 10-yard line. That was a very slow 37-yard run.
To be fair, Ekeler suffered a high ankle sprain early in the season that is probably still slowing him down.
The Chargers would only get a field goal in a game that they lost by 3. Those four points could’ve made all the difference.

Ekeler rushed 10 times for 64 yards and lost a fumble in Sunday’s 23-20 loss to the Packers. He also caught two of three targets for six yards. Ekeler was surprisingly held at bay by a Packers defense that has struggled against the run this season.
