Patrick Mahomes took the Kansas City Chiefs through most of the playoffs, and the Super Bowl, on an injured ankle.
Chiefs fans must have feared the worst after the quarterback was hit with a low tackle during Sunday’s Super Bowl 57 against the Philadelphia Eagles and got up limping. Mahomes had initially sustained the injury in a divisional-round game against the Jacksonville Jaguars and there were doubts looming over his availability for the AFC Championship Game.
He got through that one well enough and looked quite comfortable during the Super Bowl, until that tackle.
Now, we can say that there was no chance he’d exit the game. But, in the moment, things looked bleak. Mahomes ultimately sucked it up and was able to finish the game with a performance that led to him being named MVP.
The quarterback earned even more respect around the NFL world for his gutsy display. But audio has since surfaced proving just how much he toughed it out.
