The Atlanta Falcons could end up acquiring some solid receiving talent, according to this interesting trade proposal.
The Falcons would do well to welcome a new wide receiver this offseason and Quez Watkins is being floated as a potential target. The Athletic’s Bo Wulf has reported that the Philadelphia Eagles are open to dealing the former sixth-round pick ahead of the 2023 season.
The trade idea sees the Falcons send a 2024 fourth-round pick to Philly in exchange for the 24-year-old, which would hand the Eagles valuable draft capital in exchange for a player who isn’t thought to be part of their long-term plans.
A Fresh Start For Quez Watkins
The arrival of A.J. Brown in Philadelphia left Watkins on the offensive periphery and he could be keen on a fresh start elsewhere.
A move to Atlanta could present him with an opportunity to line up as a third receiving option and the team would likely benefit from his electric pace. Given that they want to run the ball as much as they can, a player presenting a deep threat would definitely open things up on offense.
So while he might not get as many snaps as a pass-catcher, Watkins might appreciate a more significant role in a team’s offense, especially as he’s entering the final year of his rookie deal.
